I made these onesie shaped baby shower invitations for my sister's shower. I saw a photo online of a baby shower invitation shaped as a onesie, and decided that's what I wanted to do. They were pretty fast and easy to whip together, and I love how they turned out.
I bought a package of white cardstock (just normal letter size) and cut them in half lengthwise.
I then scored the paper half way (this helps when folding it).
Next, I folded the paper in half.
I used the handles of the scissors to help set the fold.
I didn't have a circle paper punch, so I cut out a circle of cardstock and then used it to trace the circles on the first invitation.
Then I cut out the head and leg holes.
Once the head/leg holes were cut, I drew in the sides and sleeves.
Here's how it looks all cut out. I had to be sure not to cut the top of the sleeves, as that is what holds the card together in one piece.
I then used the first invitation as a template and traced it on all the others papers.
Then I cut the invitations all to shape/size.
I found tiny little buttons in the colors we were looking for and glued them on to the bottom of the onesie.
I added ribbon to the sleeves, and then scrapbooking stickers to the front.
I also made some of the cards into Thank You cards to give to her.
The shower was tool/construction themed, so I tried to incorporate that into the wording. After taking the picture I decided to change the wording on the rest of the invitations to "A baby is 'under construction' / and we're gathering the crew. / Every mommy needs her toolbox / and to fill it we need you."
I used watercolor pencils to color the toolbox.
I used watercolor pencils to color the toolbox.
What a cute idea! They are just perfect. Too cool. :):)

ReplyDeleteThese are really really cute...I'm going to attempt to make these for my daughters shower she's having a girl n were doing pink black lavender a white theme..but question how did u get text on inside of card? They are so small lol just need ideas for adding my text thanks :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I just hand wrote the text on the inside of the card. If you don't want to handwrite it you can buy labels or stickers (walmart, craft stores, or office supply stores should have them) and then just print on those (they come with a template and instructions on how to print on them).
DeleteOh ok...Thank you so much for responding..I think the labels is a good idea I have to make about 50 invites n trying to write in all of those would give me pen itis lol we are getting starting on these now thanks for the creative idea...will let u know the end result
